One of the largest manufacturers of entertainment lighting systems for nightclubs and concert halls came to Helical Products during development of a new generation of computer controlled lights. The high-end lighting system needed a flexible coupling to connect the stepper motor and leadscrew that move the lights in rapid and various directions. Another challenge existed because of the high temperatures and exposure to UV light.
In designing the coupling to meet all of the customer's requirements, cost was an important factor that had to be considered. The material used to overcome the temperature and the UV light was Aluminum 7075-T6. With Engineering working closely with Manufacturing, Helical was able to produce a cost effective flexible coupling.
