A manufacturer of theater projectors had produced and distributed several types of these units. A mechanical timing problem was found in current production that also effected projectors out in the field. Therefore, it would be a retro-fit coupling requiring the new unit to remain in the same size envelope (i.e. length and O.D.). The new coupling had to be compact, reliable and cost effective.
During the design process of this special coupling, Helical was able to incorporate two parts into one. The new design offered the normal misalignment capabilities of the standard Helical coupling. It had an integral clamp at one end, the opposite end has a slotted flange allowing for the timing adjustment. This coupling solved the problem by offering rotational timing adjustment, parallel misalignment and compact length in a single piece of material and is easy to install.
