FLEXURE FACTS |
THE CHALLENGEA manufacturer of
plotter/cutter equipment, used to make posters, came to us requiring a
U-joint with zero backlash capable of compensating for .200 inches of
axial travel. In the assembly of their system there was also the need to
compensate for angular and parallel misalignments. THE SOLUTION
After discussing the
application with the representative, Helical's application engineer proposed a solution. A sketch was then forwarded to the customer for
review. Upon approval, a sample was produced and sent to the
representative to hand deliver. The test and evaluation lasted for
approximately eight weeks. A full production order was placed two months
from the time of inception. This shows the importance of cooperation and
communication between the customer's engineer, Helical's representative
and application engineer in providing the appropriate HELI-CAL®
Flexure. THE ANSWER
