SANTA MARIA, CA., January 30, 1998 -- Special couplings or u-joints that are designed to meet specific design criteria frequently cost less than a catalog part, and can contribute to a more robust operating system according to Helical Products Company, Inc. The company offers free engineering assistance to designers who wish to specify mechanical performance and size aspects of beam type couplings and universal joints. These special products require no lubrication, offer zero backlash capability, and can be made from stainless steel, aluminum, or a variety of other materials. Sizes generally range from 0.375 to 2.250 in. diameter, and lengths of .375 in. to 3.500 in. Similar, metric sizes are also available.
