"FLEXURE" CONCEPT IN FLEXIBLE SHAFT COUPLINGS AFFORDS ELEGANT SOLUTIONS TO
MOTION CONTROL APPLICATIONS
Visualize a short, miniature "slinky" with thickened coils and you can
appreciate the principle of the HELI-CAL Flexure concept as it is applied to flexible
shaft couplings, U-joints and precision machined springs.
By altering coil thickness, number of coils, and type of material, different degrees of
misalignment can be accommodated and varying torsional characteristics may be realized.
These couplings are of one piece construction. They usually mount using set screws or
integral clamps. Typical shaft diameters are from .090 to 1.00". Materials used in
the manufacture of the couplings include aluminum, stainless steel, titanium and Delrin.
Helical also manufactures a series of power transmission couplings. Bore diameters
range from .5" to 1.5" and vary by series.
